Fingal Branch [ formerly St. Marys ]
14th October 2005

The Fingal Branch exists these days due mainly to coal ex Duncan Colliery Siding, just east of Fingal Station. Also pine log products have been steady over the last few years, and combined these products allow the running of one train per day, Monday to Fridays.. The empties leaving Conara early in the morning 04.00-05.00. The run out is about 1 hour and fifteen minutes to cover the 54 kilometres. After some two hours of loading the empty HF coal hoppers, and shunting of pine log wagons the train usually heads back westbound to Conara about 10.00. The loading is for intra-state customers, situated at Boyer, Railton and South Burnie.

St. Marys Station a bit like a pub with no beer.!! Recently a static display including EE unit X30 and the track were removed by D.V.R. and taken to New Norfolk, leaving things rather bare. 15-9-05; 12.53; f10@100th:iso200: 28-135 set at 38mm: CanonEOS300D
