Derwent Valley Railway
13th October 2005

In early September, the Derwent Valley Railway, operating the Derwent Valley Branch from New Norfolk to National Park, found itself without track runing rights due to a decision by Pacific National who own the rails.
This collection shows typical workings on the branch and also special charters on the main line. It is hoped the situation can be overcome and that DVR will operate again. [ indeed it is hoped that trains will still be running in Tasmania as a whole].

During happier times, New Norfolk Station is bustling after an enjoyable day out for the kids of New Norfolk Primary School. Operations Manager Tony Coen can be seen talking to parents. Special charters were frequently hired by the local schools. Sadly now no more.

It only seems like a short time ago that Hayes Loop was an important place. It hosted several shuttle trains from New Norfolk as the terminus. Also the loop was useful in turning around trains for Valleyfield. Now some 8 months after seeing a train Hayes Loop falls into decay
